Dutch enterprises are investing heavily in AI and seeing limited returns. Research conducted among 250 large Dutch organisations found that two thirds spent over €10 million on AI in the past year, with one in five committing more than €50 million. Yet fewer than half of projects hit their intended goals, and 44% see no return for six months or more. Almost all companies, 99%, engage external consultants for AI work, typically spending 21% of their total AI budget on advisory fees.
The most common criticism is that consultants focus too much on technology and too little on business results. Valliance launched in the Netherlands and the UK to address exactly that gap.
Co-founded by Rad Parvin, who previously led global data strategies for Nike, Shell, Heineken and Vodafone before selling his firm Just-BI to EPAM, the consultancy works in small multidisciplinary teams and earns fees only once agreed outcomes are achieved in live environments. The Dutch market is receptive.
Ninety per cent of Dutch businesses believe AI can deliver genuine business value, and 81% say that confidence has grown over the past year, yet only 10% consider themselves mature in their use of the technology.
