Value Engineer (Agentic AI)
London or The Netherlands
Full time
As a Value Engineer, you build the AI systems Valliance puts into production for enterprise clients: agentic workflows, retrieval stacks, ontologies and the integrations that wire them into live operations. You work directly with clients as the engineer in a three-person delivery team, alongside a Value Consultant and a Value Orchestrator, taking an ambiguous business problem through to a working solution that is safe, observable, reliable and maintainable. Evaluation loops, guardrails and monitoring are part of the build, not an afterthought. Together with the other Value Engineers, you set Valliance's engineering direction and turn what you build into patterns the whole firm can reuse.
To apply, email careers@valliance.ai with the job title in the subject line, along with your CV and any relevant links. No recruiters at this time please.
Purpose
As Valliance accelerates its growth, we are expanding our AI-native engineering capability to meet rising demand across agentic systems, retrieval, ontologies, and AI-enabled execution.
Valliance is looking for a Value Engineer a hands-on AI systems builder who combines engineering depth with product-driven thinking to design and deploy agentic, retrieval, and ontology-based systems for enterprise clients.
You will work directly with clients and alongside Value Consultants and Value Orchestrators in our 3-in-the-box delivery model, turning complex business challenges into safe, reliable, and measurable AI systems.
Key Accountabilities
Deep AI Engineering & Agentic System Design
You will design and build production-grade AI systems across:
LLM applications using modern orchestration patterns, prompt frameworks, and evaluation loops.
Multi-agent architectures, including planning, delegation, safety constraints, and monitoring.
Retrieval & vector-based systems, embeddings, structured reasoning, and semantic workflows.
Ontology & knowledge modelling literacy, enabling more precise reasoning and data alignment.
Integrations & automation, including API workflows, tools, and enterprise connectors.
Prompt engineering at scale, including pattern libraries, guardrails, and explainability checks.
You will set the engineering direction for your pod and shape the architectural foundations for client solutions.
Technical Discovery, Feasibility & Solution Architecture
Working closely with Consultants, you will:
Translate ambiguous business needs into clear engineering approaches.
Conduct feasibility assessments across data, systems, and architecture.
Participate in value-framing and use-case shaping, bringing “how it works” clarity.
Work directly with domain experts to understand edge cases and operational requirements.
Produce lightweight technical documentation, diagrams, and decision records.
Deployment, Quality, AI Ops & Reliability
You will ensure solutions are safe, observable, and maintainable:
Implement evaluation frameworks and safety checks across model and agent behaviour.
Build monitoring pipelines, logs, traces, and incident-handling patterns.
Apply governance, risk, and compliance principles to AI deployments.
Support orchestrators with release cycles, environments, and operational readiness.
Guarantee reliability, reproducibility, and performance benchmarks.
Internal Knowledge, Accelerators & Capability Building
As part of Valliance’s engineering-led identity you will:
Build reusable accelerators, agent patterns, and technical templates.
Contribute to the Valliance Academy engineering curriculum.
Share emerging research, frameworks, and deep-tech insights with the team.
Influence internal methodologies, coding standards, and architectural patterns.
Profile
Experience & Skills
This is a deep-craft role. Candidates should bring:
6–8 years in Software/ application engineering, AI engineering, or applied data engineering.
Strong experience with LLMs, embeddings, RAG, retrieval stacks, and vector stores.
Hands-on experience in multi-agent systems, agent orchestration, or MCP-like tool patterns.
Proficiency in Python, including ability to build production-grade workflows.
Experience with at least one cloud AI ecosystem (Azure/OpenAI, GCP/Vertex, Anthropic, AWS etc.).
Familiarity with semantic modelling, ontologies, or knowledge graph thinking - literacy required, mastery a bonus.
Ability to turn open-ended business problems into functioning prototypes quickly.
Comfort working in client-facing delivery, alongside consultants and orchestrators.
Attributes
Aligned to Valliance’s behavioural non-negotiables and engineering expectations:
AI Native - deeply immersed in AI tooling, research, and emerging engineering patterns.
High agency - self-propelling, entrepreneurial, bias for action.
Structured under ambiguity - first-principles reasoning, sharp problem-solving.
Builder mindset - rapid prototyping, iterating, refining, shipping.
Clear communicator - able to simplify complex systems for clients and colleagues.
Collaborative, low ego - thrives in small senior teams.
Quality-driven - obsessive about safety, reliability, and trust in AI systems.
Success Indicators
Your AI systems are adopted, reliable, secure, and deliver measurable value.
Clients trust your technical judgement and return to you for deeper engineering work.
Consultants and Orchestrators rely on your clarity to shape and deliver engagements.
Your accelerators, ontologies, or agentic patterns become reusable assets across Valliance.
You raise the capability of the engineering pillar through sharing, coaching, and building.
